IN MEMORIAM

Whereas, Texas Good Roads wants to take this opportunity to honor the memory of numerous members, friends and supporters who have died during the last year or so;

Mark Fuller of Amarillo, former president of AGC of Texas, died November 21, 2004; active in civic and church activities in his native Panhandle hometown;

Barnie Jones of Odessa, died November 29, 2004; highway contractor for more than five decades, founded Jones Brothers Dirt & Paving Contractors in 1952;

Honorable J.J. Pickle died June 19, 2005 at 91; Road Hand member of U.S. House of Representatives, 1963-1995, representing 10th District (Austin); secured funding for scores of projects, including seed money for studies of SH-130;

Lewis White died May 29, 2004; retired as Childress district engineer in 1988 after 39 years with the Department; was head engineer for the Harbor Bridge Project in Corpus Christi in 1959;

Blake Irwin of Dallas, died July 28, 2004; a member of TGR's executive committee; worked for the Lofland Company 35 years, last 10 years as President;

Ted Ziller died May 15, 2005; retired from the Department in 1986 after 37 years; at his retirement, the Austin native was director of the construction division, a post he held for 14 years;

Malcolm L. Milburn, Sr. died November 4, 2004 at 89; after WWII, Malcolm started Capital City Steel Company in Austin;

Elwin Crow of Lehigh Cement Company, died September 4, 2004; a native of Waco, he spent 35 years in the cement industry prior to his 1998 retirement;

Allen Early, Road Hand, died in Amarillo April 9, 2005 at 86; he was a retired professor;

Road Hand Ernie Zieschang died April 27, 2004 in Liberty; he was publisher and editor of the Liberty Vindicator for more than 30 years;

Wayne Henneberger died September 2, 2004; he retired from the Department in 1986 after 40 years of service; served as the chief bridge engineer for the 16 years of his public service;

Therefore, be it resolved, that the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Texas Good Roads/Transportation Association in Austin, Texas on Thursday, July 7, 2005 hereby adopt this resolution and forward copies to the relevant parties.
