Appointment of Russel Lenz, P.E.
Abilene District Engineer
Russel Lenz currently serves as Deputy District Engineer for the Waco District, a position he has held since July 1999. He began his TxDOT career as an engineering aide in the Austin District in 1979. He held numerous positions in the district prior to becoming South Travis/Hays County area engineer in 1994. He received his BS degree in civilengineer in 1982 from UT.
Appointment of Craig Clark, P.E.
Corpus Christi District Engineer
Craig Clark is district engineer for the Childress District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). He became district engineer August 1, 2001.
He began his TxDOT career in 1982 as an engineering assistant in the Odessa District. He was appointed area engineer in Pecos in 1986. Clark transferred to the Construction Division in Austin in 1989 working as engineer of field construction. He was selected as director of construction in the San Antonio District in 1992 and served in that position until becoming district engineer in Childress.
Clark earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri (Rolla). He obtained his professional engineer's license in 1987.
He was recognized in 1995 as a winner of the TxDOT Journey Toward Excellence Award.
He and his wife, Linda, have two sons (Wes and Cory).

SUBJECT: Appointment of Bryan Alan Wood, P.E.
Bryan District Engineer
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bryan Alan Wood as the Bryan District Engineer, effective December 1, 2003. He fills the position held by Lonny G. Traweek, who retired August 31.
Prior to being named Interim Corpus Christi District Engineer on November 1, Bryan served as the districts deputy district engineer since July 2000. Among his many achievements was the reorganization of the districts Port Aransas Ferry operations and the development and implementation of the districts hurricane evacuation plans. In addition, Bryan oversaw the recently completed feasibility study for the $250 million harbor bridge replacement project.
Bryan began his TxDOT career in the Bridge Division in 1983 as an engineering assistant. He also served as assistant design engineer, design engineer and supervising design engineer. In 1995, after completing TxDOTs Master of Science in Civil Engineering Program, Bryan became an associate area engineer in the Brownwood Area Office. He left Brownwood in 1998 to become the Corpus Christi area engineer and was promoted to deputy district engineer in 2000, where he also served as the districts director of maintenance for a year.
Bryan received both his BS degree in architectural engineering in 1983 and his MS degree in civil engineering in 1997 from The University of Texas at Austin. Bryan and his wife Judy have two children, Amy, 16, and Keri, 12. Bryan, Judy and their children are very involved in their local church. Amy is very involved in academics, cheerleading, and softball. Keri is also very involved in academics, as well as being a gifted athlete in track and basketball.

SUBJECT: Appointment of Lonnie J. Gregorcyk, P.E.
Yoakum District Engineer
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Lonnie J. Gregorcyk as the Yoakum District Engineer, effective December 1, 2003. He fills the position held by Bruce Bayless, who retired on August 31.
Lonnie currently serves as both Interim District Engineer as well as the Director of Transportation Planning and Development for the Yoakum District.
Lonnie began his TxDOT career in the Yoakum District in 1984 as an engineer assistant in Victoria. After four years, he was promoted to a project engineer in the Victoria office. He held positions as an advanced planning engineer and supervising planning engineer in Yoakum for five years before being promoted to Area Engineer in 1995. He has served as the districts Director of Transportation and Development since 1998, the same year the Yoakum District received a Design Excellence Award.
Lonnie currently serves as a technical advisor on the Victoria Metropolitan Planning Organization. He is also a member of the I-69 Technical Advisory Committee and is actively involved in church and civic activities in the Yoakum area.
Lonnie graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelors degree in civil engineering in 1984.
Lonnie and his wife Anne have three daughters; Colleen, Angie and Kayla.

SUBJECT: Appointment of Bobby G. Littlefield Jr., P.E.
Paris District Engineer
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bobby G. Littlefield Jr. as Paris District Engineer, effective December 1, 2003. He fills the position held by James G. Freeman, who retired on August 31.
Bobby, the 2003 Dewitt C. Greer Award winner, currently serves as Sherman area engineer in the Paris District.
Numerous mobility and safety improvements have been accomplished during Bobbys tenure, including the much-anticipated completion of the relocated US 82 and the replacement of an historic truss bridge over the Red River. He also oversaw implementation of the first Super 2 design sections in the Paris District, which added intermittent passing lanes on SH 121 to relieve commuter congestion. He is currently working on the complete reconstruction of US 75 in southern Grayson County, the largest contract ever awarded in the Paris District.
Bobby was born in Dallas and grew up in Sulphur Springs. He has worked exclusively in the Paris District during his 19-year career at TxDOT. His skill at cultivating effective partnerships between local transportation leaders has led to the replacement of some 50 deteriorated bridges throughout the district. Under his guidance, cooperative relationships forged among these leaders have resulted in successful projects to construct or reconstruct eight city streets. In addition, Bobbys strong commitment to the environment and active participation in the Adopt-a-Highway program has led to recognition of his office by Keep Texas Beautiful.
A 1984 civil engineering graduate of Texas A&M University, Bobby is a member and past president of the Grayson County Rotary Club. An Eagle Scout, he also enjoys his continued involvement with Boy Scouts as a scoutmaster. His wife Theresa is an elementary school counselor with Sherman ISD. They have two children, Patrick, 15, and Melanie, 13.

SUBJECT: Appointment of John A. Barton, P.E.
Beaumont District Engineer
I am pleased to announce the appointment of John A. Barton as the Beaumont District Engineer, effective December 1, 2003. He fills the position held by Walter O. Crook, who retired August 31.
John currently serves as Director of Transportation Planning and Development for the Wichita Falls District.
John received the 1996 Journey Toward Excellence Award for an Individual for his work in developing an automated reporting system for the QC/QA HMAC specification.
In 2001, he established the Cross Plains Rural Transportation Council, a rural planning organization to enhance the districts public involvement activities. As a result, public participation at meetings increased more than 500 percent. This innovative solution recently received the AASHTO Trailblazer Award and the AASHTO Presidents Award for Planning.
He began his career in the Wichita Falls District working as a summer hire in Archer City from 1980 to 1983. With more than 17 years of TxDOT experience, John has held a variety of engineering positions all within the Wichita Falls District including construction project manager, designer, planner, area engineer, district design engineer, district bridge engineer, director of transportation planning and development and acting deputy district engineer.
In 1986, he graduated with honors from Texas A&M University with a bachelors degree in civil engineering.
John and his wife Sheryl have two children, Lauren, 15, and Rachel, 12.
