SoulCalibur VI is one of the most anticipated fighting games of the year, and a possible release date for the upcoming Bandai Namco title leaked after fans found the game’s listing on the official Microsoft Store site.
The listing claims SoulCalibur VI will release on June 29, but the SoulCalibur team has refuted the date via Twitter. The official account also apologizes to the fans for the lack of news about the release date but promises more information still to come.
SoulCalibur VI was announced in December 2017 at the Game Awards. Outside of a few character reveals, Bandai Namco hasn’t offered fans much information on the unique fighting game. The game will introduce the new “ Reversal Edge ” mechanic, which can be performed with a single button input. This move will block all attacks and even grabs as long as you hold it. When players let go of the “Reversal Edge” button, the character will slash and “enter a scene.”
Bandai Namco has also revealed that SoulCalibur VI will reboot the series and retell the story of the first SoulCalibur game, with changes that include more modern characters from later games in the franchise.
The current SoulCalibur VI roster includes Mitsurugi, Groh, Kilik, Ivy, Nightmare, Sophitia, Zasalamel, Xianghua and Geralt from The Witcher 3.
SoulCalibur VI will release in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
